Help & Support

SleepDaddy Support Center

Comprehensive guides, technical explanations, and troubleshooting steps to help you master high-definition sleep data inspection.

1. Getting Started with HealthKit Permissions

When launching SleepDaddy for the first time, iOS will prompt you to authorize read access to Apple HealthKit sleep data.

To verify or update permissions manually:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to Health > Data Access & Devices.
  3. Select SleepDaddy from the app list.
  4. Ensure Sleep read permission is turned ON.

Note: SleepDaddy is 100% read-only. It never requests or requires permission to write health data back to Apple Health.

2. Source Filtering & Multi-Device Conflicts

If you track sleep with multiple devices (such as an Apple Watch, an Oura Ring, or a bedside mattress sensor), Apple Health stores simultaneous sleep records from each source.

SleepDaddy provides a dedicated Source Filter menu in the top timeline toolbar:

  • All Sources: Displays combined sleep records across all active wearables and apps. Conflicts and overlapping samples are highlighted with warning indicators.
  • Isolate Device (e.g., Apple Watch Only): Filters the timeline to render records exclusively from your selected hardware or app, giving you a clean, single-source analysis.
3. Brief Awake Spike Filtering (Micro-Awakenings)

Modern wearables frequently register tiny micro-awakenings (lasting 30 to 60 seconds) during normal REM and Core sleep transitions. While biologically normal, these brief spikes can clutter timeline visuals.

SleepDaddy includes an optional Hide Awake ≤ 1m toggle:

  • When enabled, isolated awake intervals lasting 60 seconds or fewer are visually smoothed out to provide a cleaner overview of your core sleep architecture.
  • Total awake metrics in the inspector detail sheet remain precise, while preventing visual fragmentation of continuous sleep cycles.
4. Adaptive Night Boundaries (7 PM – 7 AM)

Standard calendar midnight cutoffs (12:00 AM) artificially split a single night's sleep across two different days. SleepDaddy solves this with Adaptive Night Boundaries (defaulting to a 7 PM to 7 AM window).

Sleep intervals occurring between 7 PM on Evening A and 7 AM on Morning B are logically grouped into a single cohesive "Night Assembly", making it effortless to inspect whole-night sleep metrics without day-boundary fragmentation.

5. Inspecting Sleep Intervals

Want to see exact timestamps or metadata for a specific sleep block? You can inspect any interval directly from the timeline:

  1. Tap or click on any sleep stage block (REM, Deep, Core, or Awake) in the Sleep Timeline Canvas.
  2. The Interval Inspector Sheet will display the precise start time, end time, duration, and originating HealthKit source tracker.

This allows you to verify exact stage transitions and cross-reference sample timestamps down to the second.

6. Exporting & Sharing Timeline Cards

SleepDaddy allows you to render and share beautiful visual snapshots of your current zoom viewport.

Tap the Share button in the timeline header to render a high-resolution ShareTimelineCardView graphic. You can send it directly to AirDrop, Messages, photos, or present it to sleep clinicians and coaches.

7. Contact Support & Beta Feedback
